Barry John Belanger

Barry John Belanger of Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed on February 27, 2026, having succumb to organ cancer. Barry was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, on January 24, 1959. Barry is pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond Owen Belanger, Sr, and Claire Pearl Emond Belanger, and his brothers Raymond and Stephen. He is survived by his spouse, Preston Matthew Roland of Haverhill, Massachusetts, siblings Richard Belanger, of Rye, New Hampshire, Deborah Belanger Marsolais of Hampton, New Hampshire, and Diane Belanger Bemish of Carmel, Maine, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barry graduated from Amesbury High School, where he was a math tutor and language student, and graduated from Merrimack College, in North Andover, Massachusetts in 1982 with a BA in Secondary Language Teaching.

He was an employee and performer at Giordano’s Starlite Dinner Theatre in Georgetown, Massachusetts and at the Amesbury Playhouse prior to entering a long and busy career teaching computer science to students at Perley and Penn Brook Elementary Schools, and simultaneously worked as network technician and bus coordinator for the school district in Georgetown, Massachusetts, receiving a the 2020 Golden Apple Teaching Award for excellence in teaching and leadership. He retired in 2022 with 40 years of service.
